The Moose finished the tournament in 6th place out of 18 teams with a 2-1-1 record. Other players that joined the Moose were players from other junior teams in the Midwest, AAA players from around the country, Minnesota and Wisconsin High School players. Those veterans were Forwards Brendon Jones (2g 2a), James Frantz (3g 3a), Jake Casto (3a), Defenseman Nichiolas Gonrowski (1g 4a) and Goaltender Jacob Fry who went 2-1 in the tournament. The roster included 5 veterans from the 2017-2018 championship season with the Moose. The Moose roster consisted of players from around the United States looking to land a home for the 2018-2019 season.

The Madison Meltdown has turned into one for the most premier spring tournaments in the United States and that was proven this past weekend with the 18 teams competing for a championship in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. This also offers the Moose coaching staff to identify future players for the Moose roster for the 2018/2019. The Moose play in 4 tournaments throughout the summer to offer players an opportunity for exposure, development and a competitive atmosphere. Thursdays the focus will be stickhandling, shooting and compete drills, at the end of every Thursday we will pay 3 v 3 cross ice for at least 15 minutes.This past weekend (4/20-4/22) the Moose participated in its first spring tournament, the Madison Meltdown in Sun Prairie, WI. Tuesdays the focus will be skating with and without the puck with compete games at the end of each Tuesday. The CHS/ Moose Skills camp will be held 2 days a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Many teams also enter this tournament hoping to find missing pieces for the upcoming season. Some teams use this as a Junior A tryout where they bring players in to see how they can play against high level competition, others bring players in to see where they fit for the upcoming seasons. Every year this tournament is used for multiple purposes of teams that join the tourney. This year is the 5th year anniversary of the Capstone Invitational. This is proved because of the talent it attracts and the scout attendance is higher than most every summer. The Minnesota Moose have a strong relationship with Capstone Hockey Services. The tournament attracts 70+ scouts every year from NCAA D1, NCAA D3, ACHA D1, USHL, NAHL, NCDC, MJHL, AJHL, NOJHL, USPHL, and NA3HLĮvery year players earn Tenders, Draft Picks, and Contracts for the following season. Each coach brings a competitive team to compete for a championship and offer its players exposure to scouts and fellow teams in the tournament. This tournament is comprised of teams built by AAA Midget Coaches, Junior A Coaches, College Coaches and Junior Hockey Advisors. The purpose of the Janesville Invitational is to offer maximum exposure to its participants and high tempo competition. Janesville is the home of the NAHL team the Janesville Jets, the tournament is held in a good neutral location for players and scouts to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Illinois. The Janesville Invitational is moving locations from Madison, WI (Madison Meltdown) to Janesville, WI.
